After moving to Dallas, he played drums for the metal band\u00a0Thirty Called Arson\u00a0and formed the electronic pop project\u00a0the Secret Handshake, whose 2009 album,\u00a0My Name Up in Lights, reached number seven on Billboard&#8217;s Heatseekers chart. In 2011,\u00a0Dubuc\u00a0ended\u00a0the Secret Handshake\u00a0to focus on the more dance-oriented Mystery Skulls, which took its name from an episode of the Nickelodeon series Are You Afraid of the Dark?
