Terry Black’s, where do I begin?  I’ll start by saying that this place is bbq heaven! Located in the historic Deep Ellum area of Dallas, this place is absolutely delicious! When you walk up you will see immediately that they are about business as you will see huge rows of gigantic bbq grills and stacks of wood! Also, the sides are incredibly good. And the meat is just WOW! – Gianni B., Norman, OK, Yelp.com

Terry Black’s: Market Style Barbecue Restaurant

If you want a complete Central Texas experience, Terry Black’s Barbecue is the place to be. The Deep Ellum restaurant is three times bigger than the original Austin branch. It also specializes in brisket, sausage, beef ribs, and sides, from mac and cheese to creamed corn and potato salad. Nevertheless, it offers the same menu as its counterpart in Austin. So expect a complete barbecue experience, from their market-style meat selection down to pit tours.

Staying True To Its Roots

Terry Blacks Deep Ellum

The Black twins, Michael and Mark, are the family’s fourth-gen pitmasters. They are the ones who brought Terry Black’s Barbecue and its recipes to Deep Ellum. Additionally, their bbq roots date back when they were young and working at their bbq restaurant in Lockhart together with other family members. In 2014, the twin’s father lost control of the business. This is due to problems within the family. Nonetheless, their love for Central Texas barbeque remains the same.

“Thank you Mark and the entire @terryblacksbarbecue team for another great BBQ experience” – Tim Herriage

To date, Terry Black’s still uses most of the smoking techniques of the family. Also, every smoker in the bbq joint burns post oak wood. As a result, all the meats you’ll order here are cook low and slow to perfection. And aside from serving the best bbq in Deep Ellum, one of the main attractions here is its unique cafeteria-style dining service. The staff will even educate you about the different meat choices you have.

If you want to enjoy a serving of your favorite barbecue at just the right amount, opt for their Meat by the Pound. But if you’ll be dining with a group, consider getting the Family Packs, which can feed 5 to 8 or 10 to 12 people. Likewise, there are sandwich combos, scrumptious sides, and delectable dessert options you can choose from.
